Guitarist Norman Westberg – a longtime member of Swans and maker of sublime ambient guitar works – kindly played a solo show in the Sound It Out series at Greenwich House on June 27, 2019, which happened to be his birthday. Now he has a new album, A Walk in the Park, which artfully sequences excerpts of six solo concerts from across the world (with the last track eventually enveloped by convivial audience chatter to help underscore what we have been missing in the plague times). The album’s first track is titled “Greenwich House/Another Birthday,” and it’s an evocative slice from that 2019 Sound It Out performance. A Walk in the Park is a characteristically beautiful record from Norman, and it’s available on Bandcamp via the Switzerland-based Hallow Ground label.
