On Fri Nov 4, at 8pm, the Sound It Out concert series at Greenwich House Music School presents a very special concert: Oded Lev-Ari — renowned as an arranger and record producer — stepping into the spotlight to lead an octet in a performance of his beautiful compositions. Oded has earned plaudits for shepherding albums by hit band The 3 Cohens, clarinetist Anat Cohen and woodwind sage Marty Ehrlich, as well as by singers Amy Cervini and Melissa Stylianou and hot new vocal trio Duchess.
At Greenwich House, Oded will conduct a new ensemble in music from his lovely debut album, “Threading,” which evokes diverse sonic worlds from jazz sound painters Gil Evans and Maria Schneider to tango nuevo king Astor Piazzolla and contemporary classical composers. Praising his work, DownBeat said: “Putting lightning in a bottle is what Oded Lev-Ari specializes in.”
