This double-bill pairs two trios led by fascinating guitarists: Mike Baggetta and Anders Nilsson. Baggetta returns to Sound It Out with electric bassist Jerome Harris and ever-subtle drummer Billy Mintz, who recently backed him on “Spectre,” an excellent new album. Guitar Moderne has said: “Baggetta maintains a level of technical proficiency, tone, creativity and never-faltering musicality that make him one of the most interesting players in a city full of distinctive guitarists.”

Anders Nilsson’s trio with saxist Michaël Attias and bassist Ken Filiano sees them essay venturesome atmospheres. JazzTimes has described Nilsson as “steeped in the renegade six-string tradition of Bill Frisell, David Torn, Terje Rypdal and Fred Frith.”
