In her first Sound It Out @ Greenwich House appearance, saxophonist/flutist Anna Webber leads her Simple Trio, on tour in support of her new Skirl album, “Binary.” Praising the band’s first record at length, The New York Times said: “ `Simple’ is her best work yet, recorded with two of the best musicians working in New York’s high-concept avant-garde: pianist Matt Mitchell and drummer John Hollenbeck. These pieces are bracing and engineered to show the range of the group: intense collective improvisation; rapid, chromatic steeplechases; research into long tones and textures.”
