Pianist Mara Rosenbloom, making her Sound It Out debut, will lead her compelling trio with bassist Sean Conly and drummer Chad Taylor. Time Out New York has called Rosenbloom’s pianism “soulful, songful, striking,” while New York City Jazz Record has pointed out that she “has a million catchy riffs and artfully employs them… to provide melodies for powerful improvisation.” Stepping out front, Conly – who has played Sound It Out in various guises – leads an alternate version of his potent Re:Action band, which released an eponymous album in 2008 that All About Jazz praised as “driving” and “audacious.”
